Released in France only as a single, ‘Lover To Fall’ was remixed by John “Tokes” Potoker for good measure on this release. As well as this 7″ copy there is also a promo-only 12″ (and promo-only 7″ available) – all of these feature the same remix version though.
And what of this remix… much difference? Not really. Sonically, the casual ear will struggle to tell the difference from the regular album version. On closer listen, this mix most noticeably has a much sharper crack to the snare drum propelling it along, a few minor sonic tweaks in part too, but is otherwise not much altered in its arrangement. It fades out much earlier too, before the second part of the solo guitar break re-emerges. A sixth single from ‘Cupid & Psyche 85’ might have just been too much for most territories, I expect!
On the B side it claims to be ‘Hypnotise’ (Version), with a duration of 3’ 34” – which would make it shorter than the regular 7” B side ‘Version’ – but is no such edit and with that duration which matches the regular 7” A side / album version of the song, no surprises to find then that it is the regular version.
Maybe one a subtle remix, but that doesn’t mean that we still don’t need a copy! I spy a 12″ that will cost only about $24 from France right now. Hmmmm. Still making moves on the Scritti collection recently. Edging closer to completion. Did you get tickets to the tour next year?
Haven’t got any tickets as yet – sadly, I can’t begin to tell you how much I dislike the mad panic ticketing system that pits everyone against one another at 10am on a Friday in a mad scramble where more often than not the prize is a ‘sold out’ message. As it happens, due to work commitments I want able to join the melee anyway. I am hopeful of seeing them somewhere, just not sure where as yet.
